COW PARADE
Presented by the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, CowParade Harrisburg 2004 arrived in the capital city and its surrounding communities to raise funds for several charities within the eight-county region. Pennsy Supply donated the production of more than 130 concrete bases for the life-size, fiberglass cows that were part of the CowParade.
The fiberglass cows were painted by local and regional artists and situated on Pennsy's concrete bases in high-traffic, public locations from Harrisburg to Hershey to Carlisle. Pennsy employees embraced the CowParade program and enjoyed making and placing the bases for the standing, grazing and reclining fiberglass cows. Each concrete base, which held an 8-foot long by 5-foot high cow, weighed approximately 700 pounds and measured 3-feet wide by 4-feet high.
Pennsy employees even sponsored their own cow, the Harrisburger, and partnered with the Firehouse Restaurant on creating a Harrisburger sandwich with proceeds going back to the Whitaker Center.
