Tilcon Acquires Gumboro and Delmar Facilities
New facilities provide customers with greater convenience and faster delivery
DOVER, Del. (March 2, 2005) -
Tilcon-Delaware, the area’s largest paving and construction materials supplier, recently acquired two new asphalt production facilities located in Gumboro, Del., and Delmar, Md. The acquisitions double Tilcon’s capacity and asphalt production in those areas and provide greater flexibility to supply aggregates and asphalt to customers – especially smaller contractors.
“The strategic locations of the new Gumboro and Delmar facilities allow us to better serve our customers with increased production capabilities and greater coverage in markets where aggregates are in short supply,” Tilcon General Manager Damian Murphy said. “Customers will benefit from our enhanced capabilities, obtaining quality material and completing projects faster than ever.”
The state-of-the-art Delaware-based Gumboro facility includes an asphalt plant with production capabilities of 350 tons of asphalt per hour, and the facility’s aggregate yard can stockpile in excess of 50,000 tons. The new Maryland-based Delmar facility also has an asphalt production capacity of approximately 300-350 tons per hour. In addition, the facility includes a rail depot, allowing Tilcon direct rail access to supply additional aggregate to the local market.
Both locations also offer recycled concrete for use in paving and construction materials. “The lack of natural aggregate in Delaware has challenged our industry to focus on the alternative natural resources,we’re helping to protect the environment for future generations to enjoy.”
