As summer campers return to the woods and wilds of Camp Lenape, they’ll find new sidewalks and walkways there to lead them into their next camp adventures. Tilcon Delaware donated approximately 16 tons of asphalt and employees donated their time and skills clearing and repaving the camp’s sidewalks and a walking path to provide a welcoming setting to returning campers. Camp Lenape is a summer camp for kids run by United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware.
“We had worked on a few projects with the camp before,” said Tilcon Human Resources Manager Lisa Moon. “When they contacted us about donating some asphalt and our paving services, we were very happy to do whatever we could.”
Camp Lenape is a day camp for children and young adults with cerebral palsy where each child is offered a structured program of swimming, music, arts and crafts, sports, and nature study. A staff of nearly 30 counselors helps each participant to realize physical and social growth according to the camp’s website.
“Tilcon employees are very involved in the community and we focus a lot of our efforts on local programs that support the education and development of children in our community,” said Customer Support Manager Earl Losier. “We were very interested in donating our time and services to Camp Lenape because they provide such a unique and memorable experience for kids with cerebral palsy.”
